Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring a guitar to class?
If you have one - yes, bring it! If you don't have one, you can rent one from us until you're ready to buy your own!
What else do I need to bring to class?
Nothing else! A guitar is all that is required. If you have a guitar pick or capo, it will definitely be useful to you. If you don't have a guitar pick or capo - we can let you borrow one of ours! We will be providing all teaching materials.
If I signed up for a single class and liked it, would I have to pay the full $50 to come to the rest of the month?
No! If you signed up for a single class and you want to do the rest of the month, we prorate the 3/4 of a month at $37.50. You will be able to pay this with your instructor after class.
Is there a minimum number of students for a class?
Yes! We try are best to make sure our classes are filled but if there are less than 3 people signed up for a class, we will offer those signed up a refund. If you signed up but your class does not meet the minimum, you will be notified. The first class of the month will always be held just in case more people show up last minute, and so no one is left at a bar without a class going on!
Is there a maximum number of students for a class?
Yes! We cap our classes at 15 students. However, the average tends to be 5-10 people. If you want to know how many people have already registered, click on an event and you should see on the left hand side how many spaces are left.
What level should I start at?
If you're brand new to guitar, our Novice classes are the place to start! If you know some chords, we suggest our Beginner classes! If you feel comfortable with guitar, our Advanved classes are probably the best option. Check out Our Program page to learn more.
What if I want to go to multiple classes a week?
You're not alone! Many of our students by our unlimited passes so they can do just that. With the unlimited pass you can go to any class at any location. Many students use these passes to review levels they've already taken or challenge themselves and sit in on a higher level. Not to mention being able to jam out to a song at our Cover Class!
What if I miss a class?
Don't worry about it! Our classes do not build on each other, each week is learning something new!
I already know guitar and just want to jam. Can I still come?
Of course! We have Advanced classes just for that reason! Many of our students know how to play guitar and just love to come and jam out with their friends. Even if you're really good at guitar, you won't be bored - we welcome anyone who can play the lead riffs over the rest of the classes' rhythm guitar.
So clearly we are clearly going to be at a bar. Do you provide the drinks?
Drinks are not included with any class purchases. Obviously, this is Guitar at a Bar, so you are more than welcome to grab a drink at the bar whenever you'd like! It does tend to help our students loosen up a bit :)
You have to be 18 or older.
